Optomap
We are very proud to be one of the very few practices in Norfolk to offer Optomap Retinal Exams. This amazing piece of equipment can image up to 82% (200 degrees) of the Retina, nearly 40% more than standard Fundus photography offered by other opticians.
It is non-invasive, no drops and easy to use. The images allow our Opticians to check a much larger area at the back of your eyes than they can using traditional testing techniques. With our Opticians being able to check such a large area of the retina, they can detect lots of eye conditions at a very early stage, hopefully before they start to affect your vision.
We believe this offers such a valuable health check for your eyes that we have decided to offer Optomap FREE to all children under 16 years old. Like with most things prevention and early detection can save sight and even lives. We are happy to help protect the sight of Swaffham’s children.
Optical Coherence Tomography
We have been offering OCT scans for over 16 years now and our new OCT scanner uses cutting edge technology to help detect and monitor changes within your eyes. It is a great way for our Opticians to get a very detailed view of the nerve fibre layers at the back of your eyes allowing them to give you the very best health check.
Changes and variations to the thicknesses of these layers can indicate different eye conditions such as Glaucoma. It also produces a profile of the Macula (the area at the back of your eyes that gives you your detailed, central vision).
Macula problems such as Macula Degeneration (AMD) or Macula holes, to name just a couple, can be detected and monitored in detail. The correct and direct course of action can then be taken to allow for a fast referral and treatment should it be necessary. Your images can be sent with your referral too so the consultant has all the information from the start.
